More about our process:
We treated ourselves as brands and drew humorous connections between the body and logo treatments.
We read Graphic Design: Now In Production, and drew inspiration from Brand Matrix, an essay by Armin Vit and Bryony Gomez-Palacio that evaluates and contextualizes corporate brands and the relationship that they have with their consumers. Their essay references Christopher Doyle’s project, Identity Guidelines, where he appropriates the format and language of brand guideline documents to create a set of rules for himself to establish consistency in his personal brand. We took some of his project parameters and applied it as an introspective evaluation of self, visually represented as a personal style branding guide. We wanted to bring in an element of humor by scaling down ourselves as individuals into logos and treating ourselves as design elements.
